UK South Coast "Explorers Programme"

14 day Expedition

The South Coast Adventure is one of our favourite Camps at Quaystage.  It never fails to amaze us the how beautiful our own backyard is, and how many secrets about the Jurassic Coast of England that there are still to discover.

On this trip the Explorers flotilla follows the chalk ridge from Eastbourne, past Beachy Head to the Needles Point on the Isle of Wight and continues as it reemerge at Old Harry Point, along the this historic coastline's caves, creeks, and hidden coves, such as Lulworth and Worborrow Bay, past Durdle Door to the hidden Port of Dartmouth.

On the 14 day adventure no one day is the same, as you Sail Camp Flotilla explores this coastline, you could find your self canoeing up the river Beaulieu,  snorkelling for sea horses in Studland Bay,  Coasting and rock-pooling off of Durdle Door, examining onshore coastal erosion at Weymouth Bay and looking for micro plastics at West Beach Lyme Regis, and looking at water salutation up the River Dart, or Scouting out estuaries and creeks on paddle boards or in a canoes.

It could even involve if weather permits crossing the English Channel to explore the channel islands and the Brittany Coast of France.  Perhaps we will BBQ on the beach on Sark, perhaps drop a mackerel line over the side,  or go ashore to eat Moules Marinère in a French Bistro.

A 14 day Solent Sail Camp is the perfect way to learn how to sail, meet new friends, and have a perfect Summer Adventure, and not only discover about yourself but about the marine environment we heavily rely on.    Like all Sail Camps it is bursting with fun and with adventures.

You will spend 13 nights either sleeping on board your yacht or at selected camp sites on route chilling under the stars.

All food is included, and as part of Sail Camp everyone take a turn to prepare the food we eat, and you may event learn how to prepare and cook may tasty meals you have not tried to cook before.  There will also be plenty of opportunities to eat ashore when the yachts are berthed alongside in marinas.

You will also learn how to sail and the basics of navigation, and could end up with RYA Competent Crew or if you have some prior experience RYA Day Skipper.   The RYA Shore based Course "Essential Navigation and Semanship" Syllabus is also followed during the 14 days.

You will join us and other '' adventurers (a 6-8 person crew) on board one of our 40ft Yachts. Take the helm, set the sails, navigate by the stars as your explore the famous creeks and harbours, and smugglers coves, of this region on a summer adventure to remember.

Along with RYA tuition you will receive on board by one of our top instructors, you will learn about micro plastics and marine science, undertake experiments in water salutation, helping to conduct a marine biology and beach health check of this region.
