Gain practical experience

During your internship you will spend some time on your chosen courses and also time gaining valuable work experience working within the Quaystage Team, during which time interns become valued members of our staff.

As part of your training you will undertake a number of internal placements which will include working alongside our instructors, helping on courses, getting involved in maintenance and launching craft and vessels. You will also be involved in assisting with marketing, exhibiting at boat shows, conducting charter handovers, meeting customers and (subject to your progress) skippering and instructing.

In addition you will spend time on external work experience placements with our suppliers, learning about the supply chain, manufacture and the servicing and repair of the equipment used in the marine industry.

In addition to obtaining your qualification in your chosen discipline of sailing or diving you will be part of our Creating Futures Programme, where you will learn skills for life that will enhance your employability, such as presentation skills, project management skills, report writing and time management skills.

You will also be given a project associated with your area of interest. This could be a project in course design, marketing, or a new business project within our sales department.

Earn back your course fees

You will be expected to pay the course fees for your chosen Fast-track discipline of sailing or diving. This is in the region of £8,000 which can be paid in three instalments. We can assist in helping you obtain a career development loan to help with these fees.

In return for this you will receive first class training, work experience, more time on or in the water than offered on a standard Fast-track course.  This will be undertaken on Yachts and Tallships.

We also give you the opportunity to earn back some of your course fees:

  • Once qualified we will provide you with paid work opportunities in your chosen sector*
  • We will also provide commission on sales brought in by you.

*subject to standard achieved and course availability
