VHF Radio Operators Course & Assessment

This one day course teaches the basics of VHF radio operation, the correct frequencies (channels) to be used, distress, urgency, safety and routine procedures to the knowledge required to obtain a VHF Licence.

The VHF radio network has seen some fundamental changes with the implementation of the Global Maritime Distress Safety System (G.M.D.S.S) and these changes are discussed on the course.

  • 1 Day 0900 - 1700 (including assessment)

Price

  • £90 + certificate issue fee

Previous experience required

  • None, however students should learn the Phonetic alphabet prior to the course

  • Operation of VHF radio and assessment for the Short Range Certificate

Successful course outcomes

At the end of the course students are prepared to take a short written test. This test is not difficult and has a high pass rate.

After the successful completion of this course you will be issued with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Short Range Certificate. There is a certificate issue fee of £30 payable directly to the RYA on the day.

Included

The VHF course is held in our classroom and includes all course materials including the RYA VHF (GMDSS) book which is sent with your joining instructions. The course includes morning and afternoon tea, although lunch is not included.
